You can register on the site if you like, and if I get some people interested, I’ll allow them to do some content publishing as well. So come on over and register if you like.

OK so I really really suck at blogging.. lol.. I’ll see what I can do about that.

In the mean time let me tell you what’s been going on.

I’m in the process of re-launching The Glove Lover’s Page. This was a website I started back in the day when I first got on the internet, back in the early ‘90s. It was a while ago yes, but I remember the day well. Wish I knew what happened to the site I had then, I mean the copy I had on my computer.

The Oscars?

Did anyone watch the Oscars?

I didn't. From a glove perspective, there's not much reason to these days. It seems gloves are confined to "classic" films, or anything that depicts the 50s or earlier. Also popular in fashion magazine ads.

I wonder what it would take for a Hollywood super star to wear gloves to the Oscars? Do they even wear gloves at all anymore?

Usually after the Oscars I'd go through the red carpet shots to see who might have been wearing gloves that I missed while watching, but that's never these days.

I wonder why women don't anymore. Is it seemed as "demeaning"? or "repressive" or is it some kind of symbol I don't get? I am genuinely curious.

Maybe it's like heels and hosiery that they're just "the old way" and times are changing.

The quest for the glovely lady

This is a quest that I think most of us are on. To find that woman who enjoys gloves as much as we do. Wouldn't it be great to find a woman who wears gloves as often as possible. That every time you were intimate she put on long satin gloves, or that when she went out to the store she put on a pair of tight leather gloves. Someone who might even sleep in gloves. Who doesn't think she's dressed up enough unless she puts on a pair of opera gloves, even if it's just to the local diner.

I don't know if this is just a fantasy for us, do such women really exist? I don't know. I'd like to think so, but then comes the concern, would such a woman thing a guy like me is her type. Perhaps she like more sophisticated men. Then there's the chance you find her but it doesn't work out.

On this subject our friend Terri over at Bootlovers.com had an interesting article the other day:

"Boot freak guy and boot freak girl find each other. Everything is awesome for a few months. Then guy is so obsessed with boots that girl starts to feel ignored and used. And BORED. She gets resentful and no longer wants to wear boots. Guy gets insecure, girl shuts down sexually. Cue arguing about who does the dishes the most. They break-up. Girl no longer trusts fetishists, and guy gets "issues"."

This is a scary trap. To find the woman of your dreams, and then lose her because you obsess over her clothing rather than her. I would hope I never do that, but I suppose being aware of the problem before hand will reduce the risk of it happening at all.

Have any of you met that special woman? How do you make it work? How often does she wear gloves?

Searching for glove pictures

There's a few frustrating things about searching for glove pictures. I like to search Flickr for glove pictures now and again to see what's out there, but the results often leave much to be desired. These are the most frustrating results.

Trannies. While I have no problems with them at all, they seem to love to wear gloves, and they often dominate the gloves search results.
Smoking/Smokers - Agh! Probably the single worse result, IMO. I somewhat get the imagery, but smoking is so nasty. I think it's the worse thing for gloves to, makes them stink. People can smoke all they want, I don't care, I just don't want anything to do with it.
Knitted gloves - I'm not sure what the deal is with these, to me they just look, well.. odd. Once of the things I find so appealing about gloves is the tight, form fitting nature of them, and knitted gloves just seem to be missing that.
Fingerless gloves - What's the point of these? geez.

Prom

It's getting near prom season, April and May seem to be the big dates for proms, at least around here. Websites start having specials, and start showcasing there dresses, it's a great time of year for those of us interested in women's fashion. I look at it from a photographers prospective as well. It lets me see where the styles are going, what major trends there are, and I also look at the images to see how dress makers like to showcase their dresses.

The other thing I like about prom season is all the femminity in the air. Where for at least one night, in high school, women can be ladies and men can be gentlemen. Women shed the jeans and put on a dress, and the men shed the cargo pants, and put on a tux. It really is sad that dressing up seems to be limited to special occasions, work, and church. But I've been down that road before. ;)

Now I know prom can be a "questionable" age, 16-18 is probably the range of most prom goers, so it can be sticky looking at it from this perspective, but I'm more interested in the fashion and the clothes than I am about who's wearing them. That being said, I'll do my best to make sure anyone featured here is at least 18.

If anyone finds any interesting dress/glove combos, please provide a link to the site. I don't "steal" peoples images, so I won't host anything that I didn't create, or have gotten permission to host.

OK so I really do suck at posting a blog. I really can't remember to post. :) Plus I've been busy with my photography. Which has been an amazing journey. I hope to have some great glove pictures up in the not too distant future. I'm working on getting a fetish model, possibly two, and see what we come up with. One of my models is mostly retired professional dominatrix with a wonderful wardrobe. So we'll see how things go. :)

I'll let you know when I get some pictures.. Well I suppose you'll know when I post them :)

Lack of Updates

Sorry everyone for the lack of updates lately. Not that my readership is high or anything right now, but I need to be in the habit of updating on at least a semi-regular basis. I've been working on my photography lately so that's where a lot of my energy is going right now. I'd like to bring pictures to this site in the not too distant future.

On a movie update, I was watching "Underworld" the other day and there were some great glove scenes in the "house"

I'm working on lining up some "fetish" shots, which once I get some of those under my belt, I'll have an easier time getting some models to pose for me, and we'll do glove shots.

Anyway don't give up on my just because I haven't posted in a while.

"Formal" Events

A slight peeve of mine is when I see so called "formal" events on TV, and no one is wearing gloves. Movies seem to be really bad about this. Guys dressed to the nines, tuxes and tails, and women in just dresses. I'd like to see more gloved women.

I guess gloves aren't in vogue any more so the movies tend to portray current styles. But it's disappointing, gloves are so elegant, and feminine, and not to mention sexy.

Retro movies are only the ones that seem to go glove crazy.

Maybe we can start a grassroots movement to encourage women to start wearing gloves again ;)...

Glove Etiquette

Doing some research on gloves, I found a discrepancy, in "etiquette." This really only applies to weddings, but I've seen two different stances on whether it's appropriate to wear gloves in the receiving line or not.

I would think that wearing gloves should be an "often as possible" kind of thing. Gloves are not only fashion, but protect the hand, as well as cover it up. Would be a shame to have not done your nails and then take your gloves off for the receiving line where everyone gets to see your hand. Plus wouldn't it be nice to give all the gloves fans a nice tease by keeping them on. :)

Anyone have an opinion on this subject?

Another movie that's a good glove movie is Titanic. Now I won't say it's a great movie, I didn't like it all that much. However, I love seeing Kate Winslet in gloves. Yum!

More Glove Sightings

Ok have a couple more glove sightings.

In the following two episodes of Firefly you'll find the stunning Inara, played by the gorgeous Morena Baccarin, sporting gloves.

Train Job -- Inara rescues Zoe and Mal while wearing a stunning red dress, low cut, sleeveless. She wears matching wrist gloves, and matching cloak. She also gives Mal a nice slap in the face while wearing them too. :) yum.
Shindig -- Again the beautiful Inara wearing a gold dress, and mid-forearm length gold gloves, not lame thankfully (at least I don't think so), just gold. Oh also an honorable mention is Kaylee, played by the sexy Jewel Staite. She wears this umm gown, pink dress with white lace, and white almost elbow length gloves. (might be slightly pink)

Of course I'm a huge Firefly fan, one of my favorite Sci-Fi series. If you're into Sci-Fi and haven't watched these you absolutely must. :) Anyway there's my recent glove sightings.

Fingerless "gloves"

Does anyone else hate these things? Or more specifically hate that they're called "gloves" when they don't cover the fingers at all? While I understand the need to have as much use of your fingers as possible, or access to put a ring on, or whatever, it's just wrong to call these things gloves.

Of course you need to take this with a grain of salt, I'm really not advocating the banning of fingerless gloves or anything, but to me part of the appeal of gloves is seeing everything covered. And I especially love the feel of gloved finger tips.. mmmm. ahhem.. anyway.

Not much in the glove world to cover today. It's getting near prom season so maybe there'll be some news in the near future.

Maybe if any of those young prom going women read this, they could send some pictures for sharing (please be over 18 though don't need that headache)

Types of Gloves

I divide gloves into 6 major categories, 3 materials, and 3 length.

The major materials are:

Cotton
Nylon/spandex
Leather

The major lengths are:

Wrist
Mid-length/elbow
Over the elbow/opera

I tend to like gloves in all of these categories, so I'm not really picky, but I'd say I probably favor leather opera length over the others. But hey I'm not too picky ;)... Though "winter" gloves really don't do anything for me. They're mostly just ugly. I like the fashion oriented gloves.

Now I know I could break this list even more, as there's a wide variety of leather, spandex, nylon and cotton, and lengths very from a actually below the wrist to all the way up to the shoulders. However this is just the "basics"

Original pictures. I'm an amateur photographer so I'd love to do my own pictures.
Interviews with glovely women. Why they wear gloves, or why they don't.
Glove maker interviews. People like Dorothy Gasper, or others who'd love to talk about their gloves.
Surveys about why women do or don't wear gloves when they dress up.
"Glove news" as if there's such a thing, but who knows maybe I'll come up with something.
Podcasts/Vidcasts, maybe.
Editorials. I guess that's pretty much a given I think... lol

Well that's my list for now, when/if I start getting more feed back for this site, I'd love to get other's ideas on topics.

Movie Recommendation

The first movie I'd like to recommend is "The Producers" This is the 2005 film version of the Broadway play, which was musical remake of the 1968 Mel Brooks movie. Did you get all that? lol

Anyway this is a glovers heaven in the movie. Right from the start formal dress, 1920s style. Men in top hats, love flowing gowns and long gloves of course. And of course can't go without mentioning Uma Thurman. WOW!.. She wears lots of gloves. And has nice thigh high stockings too. *grin*

And the movie is not bad either ;)... Do you have any movie recommendations?

Hey everyone, just wanted to give my first post. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this blog yet, I have some great idea about things to do, but this is where I'll start.

I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Owen, and I have a thing for gloves. Just in case you couldn't tell by the title of the blog ;)...

I can't really say when my "thing" started, but it's been around for quiet a while. I remember when I was younger, I used to enjoy watching cartoons and comics for the gloves girls. I remember shows like Electra Woman and DynaGirl, where they where in superhero costumes.

When the Internet was first getting popular in the early 90s I started a website, by the name of "The Glove Lovers Page" I hope to eventually get a page like that up and running. While it won't be the same kind of content, it will have the same spirit.

I hope to keep this blog as a place for me to talk about blogs, fashion, and whatever else glove related comes to mind. Things like my favorite glove movies, glove sightings, and maybe even some glove discounts from major gloves suppliers.

I guess that's it for the intro. I'd love to hear from you so please feel free to post comments, suggestions, or whatever.
